The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus was the movie Heath Ledger was working on before his untimely death. This work was finished, however, by three A-list actors Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell, and Jude Law. The story is kind of confusing to tell the truth, so I won’t try to explain it. It definitely looks interesting nonetheless. Just watch the trailer after the jump. (more…)

Precious

Precious is a film promoted by Tyler Perry and Oprah Winfrey about an overweight, illiterate teenager Clareece “Precious” Jones, living in 1980′s Harlem with her dysfunctional family. And when I say dysfunctional family, I mean a mother who verbally and physically abuses her, and a father who rapes and has impregnated her twice. Yeah, thats bad. The movie stars Mo’Nique as the mother, Mariah Carey as a social worker, Paula Patton as a teacher, and Lenny Kravitz as a nurse.

I think this movie is the must-see film of the year. There are already discussions of nominating the film for Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Supporting Actress (Mo’Nique), and Best Actress (Gabourey Sidibe, who plays Precious). Peep the trailer after the jump.

Youth In Revolt

Youth in Revolt

Another Michael Cera movie, smh. We all hate that we love his movies. And here is yet another that we will all want to see, Youth in Revolt. In this movie, not only does Cera play his usual role as an awkward, pubescent teenager, but also that teenager’s bad ass alter-ego. Check out the trailer after the jump. (more…)

Bad Boys 3……?!

badboys

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are teamin’ up for a NEW Bad Boys film.

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are in talks about making Bad Boys 3. There has been no confirmation on whether the film is a go, but if they know like we know, they’ll give the movie the green light. Bad Boys 2 grossed $273 million worldwide. As far as we know, the only hold up may be whether or not the studio will be able to meet Will Smith and producer Michael Bay’s salary requirements.

Law Abiding Citizen

The movie “Law Abiding Citizen” is a thriller featuring Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx. The film tells the story of a man who seeks revenge on the killers of his family and the criminal justice system that did not serve them justice. It looks to be a horror-esque, Saw-type thriller towards the end, so I think this movie has alot to offer in terms of entertainment. The film opens October 16. Check out the trailer after the jump. The Wolfman

This movie is a remake of the 1941 classic horror film of the same name. It features Academy Award-winning actor Benicio Del Toro (Traffic, 21 Grams, Che) as the title character. You pretty much know what to expect from a werewolf movie, but with a cast like this and a trailer so intense, this movie looks to be a hit. The film opens February 12, 2010. (Pushed back from its original November release date, bummer.)

Check out the trailer after the jump.

Rumor: Megan Fox As Catwoman For New Batman Movie

Megan Fox is going to play the role of Catwoman in the forthcoming Batman movie. Halle Berry & Michelle Pfeiffer have done for the role for the previous movies and I’m sure Fox will do the role justice. She is going to working alongside Christian Bale, as he continues to play the role of Batman. I know a lot of men are pleased to hear this. They were drooling over Megan in the theatres for her roles in the Transformers movies. She is a good actress though, so congrats to her.

People magazine just broke the news that this is indeed a rumor since there is no script or cast for the production. Don’t be too disappointed because you can catch Megan Fox in the new movie thriller Jennifer’s Body. You can check out the full article on the rumor here.

The Remake of “Fame”

The famous 1980 film “Fame” has been remade with a more modern feel. I personally haven’t see the original Oscar-winning film, however, so I can’t say whether this version looks better or worse based on the trailer. Nevertheless, if you’re a fan of the classic movie, you may be interest in this remake. The film opens September 25. Check out the trailer after the jump. (Also, compare it to the original’s trailer.)

Aron Ranen’s Black Hair Documentary

BHDVD Cover printtest
I came upon this documentary after watching the trailer for Chris Rock’s “Good Hair” film. This movie, completely funded by filmmaker Aron Ranen, focuses on the same topic, however, taking a less comedic abroad. The film discusses how Koreans have taken over the black hair product industry in America. I, personally, was surprised by the magnitude of the situation, and think that every person of color should watch the free 7-part documentary. You’d be surprised by some of the information this film has to offer to the black community. Support Aron Ranen’s work at his website, and watch the film after the jump.

Chris Rock’s Good Hair

I think all woman of color will be interested in this new comedic documentary from Chris Rock. The film takes on the topic of women of color’s on-going struggle with their naturally nappy hair, and how they deal with it. There are some things in the movie that can interest men of color as well. Take a look at the trailer. Enjoy.

Art & Copy (Trailer)

ART & COPY is a powerful new film about advertising and inspiration. Directed by Doug Pray (SURFWISE, SCRATCH, HYPE!), it reveals the work and wisdom of some of the most influential advertising creatives of our time — people who’ve profoundly impacted our culture, yet are virtually unknown outside their industry. Exploding forth from advertising’s “creative revolution” of the 1960s, these artists and writers all brought a surprisingly rebellious spirit to their work in a business more often associated with mediocrity or manipulation: George Lois, Mary Wells, Dan Wieden, Lee Clow, Hal Riney and others featured in ART & COPY were responsible for “Just Do It,” “I Love NY,” “Where’s the Beef?,” “Got Milk,” “Think Different,” and brilliant campaigns for everything from cars to presidents. They managed to grab the attention of millions and truly move them. Visually interwoven with their stories, TV satellites are launched, billboards are erected, and the social and cultural impact of their ads are brought to light in this dynamic exploration of art, commerce, and human emotion.

This is a must watch, this seems to be a powerful movie. Just the trailer alone is an inspiration, great things come from creativity, you will definitly be seeing me inattendence.
